I see the light!

Last night was the first night of our new mini photographers community of Sacramento (MPCS) group meeting. It was very refreshing to hone our lighting skills and to have a educational and technical approach to lighting, which even included a hands on session. Rubén González opened our meeting with a very nice presentation on understanding lighting fundamentals, such as how to use available light and adding supplemental lighting.

Our model, beautiful Leah helped us to create these images. Household items were used in creating this warm and cozy atmosphere. A video light was directed through a bamboo tray to make an exaggerated blind effect of light, highlighting the subjects face. Candles were also incorporated into the surrounding to give these images a very moody feeling. These exercises makes your creative passions simmer and stew and it greatly helps to train your eye in an artistic perspective. With photography there are so many creative avenues to travel, now have some fun experimenting!

Also Kristi, thank you so much for your hospitality and for hosting the session!

Blog yah later,

Shona :)
